One 'gotcha' to be aware of:

If you are going to run more than one project under Boinc, then you
should set in the user preferences:

Leave project applications in memory while activities are suspended?
(applications will always consume swap space if 'yes') *YES*

Otherwise, a project is forced back to whatever was its last checkpoint
when restarted after a preemption. Setting "yes" and so leaving the
project in memory permits it to continue from the preemption point
without loss of progress.

Where are these preferences? I've found a few references to them on various
sites but none say where they are.

Where are these preferences? I've found a few references to them on various
sites but none say where they are.
For example:

http://setiweb.ssl.berkeley.edu/ -> Your Account ->

then a few items down on editing your preferences.

(The setiweb page is down at the moment (:-((

And:

http://climateapps2.oucs.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc/prefs.php?subset=global

Fourth item:
###
Leave applications in memory while preempted?
(suspended applications will consume swap space if 'yes') yes
###

Good luck,
Martin
